The relevance of figs

"And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed FIG LEAVES together, and made themselves aprons." Genesis 3:7 KJV

One of the first places we find figs referenced in the Bible is in Genesis 3:7

• God told Adam and Eve that they shall surely die-- the wages of sin is death and decay --- degenerate heart and mind.

• Adam sought restoration

• Adam Used fig leaves for restoration

Figs are high in Potassium.

Potassium is essential for generation of electricity. In the body it is essential for brain and heart function.

• RESTORATION: Could it be that Adam hoped to have an effect on his sin damaged heart and brain?

Could it be that he hoped this covering could restore his lost robe of innocence?

“And Isaiah said, ‘Take a lump of figs.’ And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.” 2 Kings 20:7 KJV

Another place where figs were used for restoration:

• King Hezekiah was sick.

• Isaiah was sent to tell him it was unto death.

• Hezekiah prayed.

• Isaiah was sent again to give a remedy.

• Hezekiah was sick with a boil.

Boil in Hebrew: shᵉchîyn “An ulcer; --inflamed spot, botch.” (Strong’s Concordance, reference H7822)

“...the curse causeless shall not come.” Prov. 26:2 KJV

Botch/Cancer is an infestation of waste matter.

• Where do we find a botch? Deut 28:27

What is the cause of this curse?

• Deut 28:15 - Disobedience to the law of God ---The Eight Laws of Health.

Hezekiah’s Lifestyle:

• Improper diet

• Eating Between Meals

• Not enough exercise

THE REMEDY

Fig poultice

soft, moist mass of material applied to the body to relieve soreness, and inflammation

The figs must be ripe, heated, and bruised.

Who does the fig represent?

Isaiah 53:4-6

Apply Olive oil

• Holy Spirit (1 Samuel 16:13)

Gauze to wrap it

• Christ's Righteousness (Isaiah 61:10)

Have faith and consistency (reapply it)

“Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.” Jer 60:18 KJV

What had to take place before the healing?

• 2 Kings 20:2

What does the wall represent?

• Isaiah 60:18; Isaiah 26:13

• Turned his heart to follow God’s way (wall = salvation)

Though the sickness was brought upon himself

Christ still gave a remedy.
