Under stress, the body's immune system is in jeopardy and its ability to protect from infection and cancer is lowered.[1] Stress also disrupts the normal function of the endocrine system that is responsible for secreting hormones to regulate many body functions such as growth, homeostasis, reproduction, response to stimuli and metabolism. [2] Everyone experiences stress from time to time, but freququent stress is more serious and if continued over long periods of time, will result in the wearing out of the body and its vital organs.
