Huckleberry is a small, bluish purple colored, round fruit that looks very similar to blackberries. They are both sweet and tart in taste. Huckleberries can be used in juices, used to make teas, jellies, muffins, pancakes, virtually anything that you can use a fruit in, huckleberry can be used. Remember though that the best absorption of nutrients is when foods are consumed closest to its natural state. This means that cooking, frying, boiling, broiling or the like, in high temperatures can deplete the food's nutrients and its effectiveness, thus producing low to no effect.
Huckleberries are high in Vitamin B and C and minerals such as iron, potassium, sodium and calcium. They contain high amounts of antioxidants which helps in the prevention of diseases such as diabetes, also enhancing the function of the pancreas where the conversion of food into energy takes place.
Try adding a handful of huckleberries as a topping for cold and hot cereals or as a side dish to any breakfast. You are sure to love the taste, while reaping the benefits of a healthy, functioning body!
